Case studies

Workplace mental health, built from the inside out.

Three engagements Carrie led as Lead Principal, Client Services at Mind Share Partners, the national nonprofit dedicated to workplace mental health. One of them continues today through Grogan Group. Each one looked different, because each organization was.

01 · Hospitality · Ongoing

Choice Hotels

Organization
2,500+ employees, headquartered in North Bethesda, Maryland
Engagement
2024 – present: three years and counting
Formats
Assessment, storytelling events, champion and manager training, multi-year strategy

The challenge

Choice Hotels had a clear vision for supporting employee mental health, and a high-performing culture to protect. Employees were asking for a healthier way of working, not more self-care perks. Leadership needed a partner to turn that vision into grassroots culture change.

What we did

  • Assessed how mental health shows up across the organization, and how people feel about discussing it
  • Hosted in-person storytelling events and panel discussions where employees shared their experiences to reduce stigma
  • Trained employee resource group leaders as mental health champions, and trained managers to support mental health and wellbeing
  • Helped launch an employee-led Mental Health Subcommittee
  • Built a strategy grounded in what employees said they needed, now guided by a five-year roadmap

What changed

Post-event surveys showed employees were more willing to talk about mental health at work, and leadership expanded the partnership as momentum grew.

The partnership continues

Carrie led this work for Choice Hotels at Mind Share Partners from 2024 until the organization closed in April 2026. Choice Hotels then chose to continue the strategy work with Carrie directly, through Grogan Group.

02 · Global hospitality

Hyatt

Organization
200,000+ colleagues worldwide, headquartered in Chicago
Engagement
May 2024 onward
Formats
Global listening, storytelling, all-colleague sessions, strategy

The challenge

After the pandemic, Hyatt wanted to move its approach to wellbeing beyond traditional wellness programs toward a culture that genuinely supports mental health, across a workforce spread over dozens of countries and very different roles.

What we did

  • Listened first: 60+ listening sessions and interviews with colleagues across 10 locations, from Chicago and Toronto to Cancun, London, Seoul and Dubai
  • Created mental health visual resources for back-of-house teams
  • Coached senior executives, including the CEO and CHRO, to share their own stories in a “Mental Health Matters” storytelling series
  • Delivered all-colleague virtual sessions for World Mental Health Day
  • Convened a cross-functional stakeholder group to shape and refine the strategy

What changed

The executive storytelling episodes drew some of the highest engagement of any content on Hyatt’s intranet in 2024, and colleague feedback across the program was strongly positive.

Canadian Tire

Organization
35,000 employees, headquartered in Toronto
Engagement
August 2022 – April 2023
Formats
ERG training, leader coaching, story coaching

The challenge

Canadian Tire Corporation had just launched Mental Health Matters, an employee resource group for mental health. Its leaders wanted to normalize conversations about mental health while handling privacy and sensitivity with care, and needed the skills to tell their stories well.

What we did

  • Trained the ERG committee on best practices for a mental health ERG
  • Coached senior leaders to act as visible allies
  • Provided one-on-one story coaching for event speakers and sponsors

What changed

The ERG reported strong feedback on the training, and its speakers were better equipped to share their stories clearly and compellingly. The group planned to expand story coaching further.
